  • PM Modi expresses India’s will to host 2036 Olympics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 141st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai. While addressing the gathering comprising representatives of all Olympic participating nations, he expressed India’s willingness to host the 2036 Summer Olympics in India. He also expressed India’s wish to host the Youth Olympics of 2029.

India is not just a nation of sports lovers but it forms the fabric of lifestyle and physical activity for Indians. India has offered several indigenous sports to the world which are gaining recognition and increased participation by several countries.

India hosted the IOC session after a gap of forty years.      

The Prime Minister presented scientific evidence of this ancient sport legacy of India. He mentioned the Dholavira UNESCO World Heritage site and talked about sports infrastructure in the urban planning of this 5000-year-old city.

Sports also strengthens the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – One Earth, One Family, One Future”, PM Modi added.
